Enumclaw Walk of Fame: Kasey Kahne, Brian Scalabrine, and Linda Petchnick
Enumclaw is proud to be the hometown of NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne, NBA star Brian Scalabrine, and internationally renowned artist Linda Petchnick. Kasey Kahne, 2004 NASCAR Rookie of the Year, was honored here in September 2005 at Kasey Kahne Day, where thousands of fans came to recognize him for his achievements. The City renamed First Street as 'Honorary Kasey Kahne Drive' and placed a monument on the Drive as the first marker in the Enumclaw Walk of Fame. Brian Scalabrine, Enumclaw High School and USC basketball star, was drafted into the NBA in 2001 and currently plays for the 2008 World Champion Boston Celtics. The City honored Brian at Brian Scalabrine Day in July 2007, not only for his achievements on the court, but his commitment for the community, and his marker joined Kasey's in the Walk of Fame. Linda Petchnick, (pictured above with Mayor John Wise) lives and works in Enumclaw, and graduated with a BFA from the University of Washington majoring in Industrial Design and Painting. She has worked as a product designer, muralist, and watercolorist. Linda, a diverse painter, recently finished a project, painting 50 orchid paintings from the teaching collection for the University of Washington's Dept. of Biology. She has illustrations in two volumes of "The Genus Paphiopedilum - Natural History & Cultivation" and "Paphiopedilums" by Dr. Guido Braem, noted orchid taxonomist from Germany. Linda has painted eight murals measuring up to 54 feet in width in Enumclaw, Orting, and Puyallup, Washington. Linda was honored at the City's annual Art Walk in August 2008. |
